The Conference Moves to Norway

Eventus International is an international organiser of senior executive gaming and iGaming industry conferences. The announcement follows the conclusion of the event’s eighth annual edition and marks the next stage in its regional expansion. Since its launch in Sweden, SNGS has rotated between Sweden and Denmark, bringing together gaming operators, regulators, technology providers, industry associations and other stakeholders to examine developments affecting the Nordic gaming sector.

The move to Oslo reflects the organiser’s strategy to broaden the conference’s regional reach while keeping its focus on regulatory developments, market trends, technological innovation and commercial opportunities across the Nordic gaming industry.

“Over the past eight years, the Scandinavian & Nordic Gaming Show has developed into a platform for industry dialogue and business engagement across the Nordic region,” said a spokesperson for Eventus International. “Bringing the ninth edition to Oslo is a natural progression for the event. Norway plays an important role in the wider Nordic gaming landscape, and we see an opportunity to bring together regional and international stakeholders to exchange perspectives, address industry challenges and explore future developments.”

What the 2027 Programme Will Cover

Norway’s distinct gambling regulatory framework is expected to feature prominently in discussions, alongside developments in Sweden, Denmark and other European markets. The conference will provide a forum for examining the implications of regulatory changes, responsible gambling requirements, emerging technologies and evolving business models.

The 2027 conference is expected to address gambling regulation and compliance, responsible gambling, player protection, artificial intelligence, payments technology, digital transformation and international market developments.

Why Oslo

Oslo’s established business infrastructure, international connectivity and conference facilities were among the considerations behind the selection of the Norwegian capital. The city also offers opportunities for networking and business engagement beyond the formal conference programme. The decision to expand into Norway follows eight editions in Sweden and Denmark, reflecting Eventus International’s intention to strengthen the conference’s Nordic presence and attract participation from a broader international audience.

“Each edition of SNGS has contributed to the development of a network of industry participants across the region,” the spokesperson added. “Our objective for Oslo is to build on that foundation while introducing new perspectives and creating further opportunities for collaboration.”

Industry Voices on the Move to Oslo

Carl Fredrik Stenstrøm, Chairman of the Norwegian Online Gaming Association (NBO), said: “Bringing the Scandinavian & Nordic Gaming Show to Oslo in 2027 could not have come at a better time. With Finland opening its gambling market, Norway is now the last Nordic country holding on to a gambling monopoly. I strongly believe Norway will be the next to embrace a licensing system, and the momentum for change is growing. The Nordic gaming industry is entering an exciting new chapter, and Oslo is the perfect place to discuss its future. As Chairman of the Norwegian Online Gaming Association (NBO), I look forward to welcoming the industry to Norway, hopefully as we move closer to ending the Norwegian gambling monopoly.”

Mikkel Taanum, Counsel (Advokat) at Two Birds, said: “After eight editions alternating between Stockholm and Copenhagen, Oslo is in my opinion the natural next step, bringing a fresh Nordic perspective and new connections to an established event. Hosting the ninth edition in Norway will reinforce the show’s ambition to be a truly, and one of a kind, pan Nordic meeting place for the gaming industry.”

Margarita Cruz, Director and Founder of Diamond28 Consulting Limited, added: ” With Finland’s upcoming regulatory reforms and significant developments across the Nordic markets, Oslo provides an ideal setting to bring industry leaders, regulators and stakeholders together to explore how these changes will reshape regulatory frameworks, market competitiveness, innovation and the wider gaming ecosystem. The Nordics continue to set important benchmarks for Europe, and 2027 promises to be a defining year for the region’s future!”

Hayley Joseph, Business Development Manager at Amusnet Gaming, commented: “The Eventus team brings the brains, the buzz and a whole lot of personality! They bring the right people together, turn conversations into connections and make business feel like the place to be. Serious talent. Seriously good vibes!”

The TCB View

The choice of Oslo is as much a regulatory signal as a logistical one. With Finland opening its market, Norway is the one Nordic country still holding a monopoly, and an industry conference landing there in 2027 puts the licensing debate in front of the people who would shape it. Voices in the release lean towards a Norwegian licensing system, but those are industry views and not policy. The thing to watch is whether Norwegian regulators and policymakers show up on the programme once it is published.
