Commercial Policy

Editorial vs. Commercial Content

The Central Bulletin accepts paid partnerships. Every piece of sponsored content is labelled so prominently that no reader could mistake it for editorial journalism. Here is exactly how we draw the line.

What We Accept

Permitted

  • Sponsored articles — Commercial content written in partnership with a project, exchange, or technology company. Prominently labelled “Sponsored” at the top of the article in a distinct banner. The content is factually accurate and must not make false claims.
  • Display advertising — Standard banner, sidebar, and in-article display ads served via our ad platform. Ad content is reviewed before serving. No misleading ads, no fake news formats, no ads that mimic editorial headlines.
  • Sponsored newsletters — Commercial placement in The Daily Brief. Clearly separated from editorial content and labelled as a sponsored message.
  • Research partnerships — Co-produced data reports or market research where the commercial partner is named and our methodology is disclosed. Findings reported are factual and cannot be altered by the commercial partner.
  • Event sponsorships — Commercial support for TCB events or coverage of specific conferences or summits, with disclosure of the sponsor relationship.

What We Do Not Accept

Prohibited

  • Payment to write positive editorial coverage of a project, exchange, or token
  • Press releases or promotional content presented as independent journalism without disclosure
  • Sponsored content that makes false claims about a product, competitor, or market
  • Advertorials that mimic the design and format of editorial articles without disclosure
  • Ads for unverified presales, scam tokens, or high-yield programs that exploit readers
  • Sponsored content that conflicts with our editorial standards — no misinformation, no unverified price predictions
  • Payment to alter or suppress existing editorial coverage
  • Undisclosed paid endorsements within editorial articles

How Sponsored Content is Labelled

Mandatory Disclosure

Every piece of sponsored content on TCB carries the following disclosures. These are non-negotiable and cannot be removed or modified by a commercial partner.
  • A “Sponsored Content” banner at the very top of the article, above the headline, in a distinct visual style
  • The name of the commercial partner is stated clearly: “Produced in partnership with [Company Name]”
  • A note at the bottom: “This is a sponsored article. The views expressed are those of the sponsor and do not represent TCB’s editorial position.”
  • Sponsored articles are excluded from TCB’s editorial article feeds and search unless the reader is viewing the sponsored section
  • Sponsored content URLs use the format /sponsored/[slug]/ to make the commercial nature visible at the URL level

Editorial Firewall

Guaranteed

The Central Bulletin maintains a strict operational separation between our editorial team and our commercial team:

  • Editorial staff do not know which companies are active commercial partners unless disclosed by commercial in specific contexts
  • Commercial staff cannot request, modify, or kill editorial coverage
  • If a commercial partner is the subject of editorial coverage (positive or negative), TCB discloses the relationship within that article
  • A commercial partner’s coverage decision is never delayed, softened, or hardened due to their advertising relationship
