Built to Be Read by Everyone

The Central Bulletin is committed to making our journalism accessible to all readers, including those who use assistive technology. Here is what we do, and how to tell us when we fall short.

Last updated: June 14, 2026. This page is reviewed regularly and may be amended as our practices or applicable law change.

Our Commitment

WCAG 2.1 AA

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time fix. We review our templates and content practices regularly and treat accessibility issues as bugs to be resolved.

What We Do

👁

Readable Contrast

Body text and interface elements are designed to meet contrast ratios for low-vision readers.

Keyboard Navigation

Core navigation and links are reachable and operable using a keyboard alone.

🎬

Image Alt Text

Article images include descriptive alternative text so screen readers can convey their meaning.

📄

Semantic Structure

Headings, lists, and tables use proper HTML so assistive tech can parse page structure.

📱

Responsive Design

Content reflows for phones, tablets, and zoomed displays without loss of information.

🔗

Descriptive Links

Links are written to make sense out of context, avoiding bare “click here” phrasing.

Known Limitations

Honest Disclosure

Some third-party embeds (such as charts, social media, or advertising) may not fully meet our accessibility standards because they are controlled by external providers. Where we identify such issues, we work to provide an accessible alternative or replace the component. AI-generated hero images are illustrative; their alt text describes the scene rather than literal data.
